Our Founder

The Short Story

Sitting on a chair in her dining room, with many dreams and a green notebook full of ideas and bad drawings, unemployed, worried about debts and not a penny to invest, it's how our founder, Luisa, started Louis Barx.

Louis Barx is a brand dedicated to empower dog moms and their pups.

We believe there is a beautiful and strong bond between a lady and her dog.

The Novel

Everything started with a dream and a green notebook...

Sitting on a chair in her dining room, with many dreams and a green notebook full of ideas and bad drawings, unemployed, worried about debts and not a penny to invest, it's how our founder, Luisa, started Louis Barx.

Luisa is not very different from other young people who want to start their own business, the difference is that she decided to make HUGE changes in her life and leave her "comfort zone" (in fact, it was not comfortable at all) to reach her goals.

One thing was clear from the very beginning of our story, Luisa wanted a brand that would empower women and motivate others to follow in her steps of entrepreneurship, determination and self-confidence.

So how did we end up making cool dog supplies?

"Some of my favorite things or passions are wine, tea, fries and pizza, dogs and reading, so I knew I had to design and sell something that was among the things I like to do, use and consume. I believe that for your product or brand to be valuable to you and your customers, you as a creator must love what you do, you must love your product and there is exactly where the purpose of your company is born."

Talking about WHY the pet industry...

"Since I could remember, we always had a pet at home, from dogs and cats to turtles and different types of birds, I can remember as it was yesterday when we once had 9 different pets at home: 2 chihuahuas, 1 black cat, 1 turtle and 5 parrots. It was absolutely crazy, noisy and FUN! The truth is that my grandfather was the true animal lover who taught me to live with them and treat them with love and respect. I'am now a mom of three boys and I always look for the best products for them and happens the same when we look for supplies or food for our dogs. We will always look for quality, safety and convenience."

A bit of history and fun facts....

  • The first trial shipment that Luisa ordered was a completely mess and she was unable to sell most of the things that came in a one single dusty box.

  • The second shipment consisted of 100 dog t-shirts which took her more than 6 months to sell. Her family and friends told her to start looking for a real job.

  • The third order was for 200 dog bandanas (literally the whole "inventory" was stacked on a shelf in Luisa's kitchen), determined to bring it in again this time Luisa put her product for sale on Amazon (WOW This is it! She was determined to become rich and famous) Pfff! Only 6 items were sold, 3 of them were purchased by Luisa to sent them out to her friends and being able to write a review. This time a very disappointed Luisa whispered "I've been wasting my time, I QUIT!".

But there was still strength and determination left so she used her last available resources, sold some personal items and with her husband and grandmother's help she managed to raise $6000 to invest in her crazy business idea.

Louis Barx is on a mission to empower other women in the same position.

We dream of being able to support other female entrepreneurs and animal care associations and as the brand grows we will open giving back programs.

Our mission is also oriented to find sustainable options for the environment and therefore, whenever we can, we use recycled materials that are not harmful to the environment.

.....and last but not least....a last message from Luisa

"A "good and eye-catching product" is the most important thing to build a successful business, but most important of all is the experience we offer and the brand's personality. There is a lot of sameness in the pet industry, but when you look in depth you realize that there is no purpose at all and I believe that the modern customer is looking for more than a t-shirt or a toy for their children or dogs, WE are looking for a story, a purpose or a reason and that's what we have at Louis Barx".

 Thanks for stopping by...
